SERVICES PROVIDED | Consumers can complain to the ASA against advertisements considered to be untruthful, misleading or harmful in any way. The ASA will deal with complaints about advertising content but not with complaints about contractual matters or service. A complaint form is available on the website. |

ACCOUNTABLE TO | The ASA is an independent body set up and paid for by the marketing communication industry to ensure that its system of self-regulation works in the public interest. |
POWERS | The Code is administered by the Directorate and ASA Committees drawn from the constituent member bodies and where applicable, consumer organisations. Powers are vested in the Directorate and ASA Committees. If an advertisements is found to be in breach of the Code, the ASA can take the following actions: order the withdrawal of an advert in its current format. require that amendments or all future publications be submitted to the ACA Advisory service pre-publication or order the publication of an adverse publicity statement.

CONSUMER’S RECOURSE | A complainant may appeal against the ruling of the Directorate to the Advertising Standards Committee. Thereafter, the complainant can appeal to the Final Appeal Committee. |
