The fund provides compensation to clients who suffer loss by reason of theft of money or property entrusted to an attorney in the course of his/ her practice or where a practitioner acts as executor or administrator in a deceased estate, or as a trustee in an insolvent estate, or in any similar capacity. Claims must be submitted in the form of an affidavit to the Council of the Law Society and to the Fund's Board of Control within 3 months of the claimant becoming aware of the theft. |
