After all the talk of doom and gloom setting in after the FIFA World Cup, it has been incredible to see how many proactive and positive initiatives have sprung up in order to sustain the sense of unity, enthusiasm and respect that we all embraced during the tournament. Many of these initiatives also stand for the need to take responsibility and be accountable in order to build and grow a sustainable future for our country.
One of the projects that really caught our attention is Lead SA, a Primedia Broadcasting initiative supported by Independent Newspapers, which encourages individuals to stand up and accept responsibility for the challenges they face and become proactive leaders. Their philosophy is that by simply choosing to promote the positive and standing up against the negative, you can lead South Africa.
Lead SA plans to roll out this project by highlighting the achievements of the nation, celebrating the efforts of ordinary South Africans who continually seek to do the right thing for themselves, for their families and for their country, and by identifying practical ways for you to do this too. For example stand up for what’s right, for your community, for education and for free speech; stand up to corruption and against indifference. Read more.
These points are closely aligned with the getclosure philosophy; we believe that both consumers and suppliers need to front up to the issues they face and take responsibility. When it comes to improving the overall level of customer service and service delivery, we need to learn to be more proactive: compliment great service and complain constructively rather than rant and rave about poor service. In turn, suppliers need to embrace their customers’ feedback and use it to improve and develop their products and services.
So the question I’d like to leave you with today is whether these drives for positive change and development in South Africa are going to be the lasting World Cup legacy? If so, the getclosure team supports them 100%!
