Whether you’re a renowned shopaholic or avoid any form of consumerism, grocery shopping is bound to make a regular appearance on your to-do-list.  Using a supermarket which has great customer service can make the world of difference to your overall shopping experience.

In this newsletter we take a look at consumer feedback about the top four supermarkets in South Africa to give you an indication of the service levels which you can expect to receive.

Pick n Pay delivers the customer service goods
User feedback on getclosure indicates that Pick n Pay is leading the pack when it comes to customer service.  Nine out of ten of their customers who have used the getclosure service are happy with the outcome of their complaints and with the way these were handled. 

The other major supermarkets are below par with the way they handle complaints, as there is a significant discrepancy between customer satisfaction with the complaint outcome and with the way complaints are handled for Spar, Woolworths and Checkers.

Here are the results for the top four supermarkets for year to 28 February 2010.
