If you’re exhausted by the thought of Christmas shopping and feel overwhelmed by everything that you need to do before the silly season really kicks off then take two minutes to read through these tips on how to stay sane and have some fun while you’re at it!
Secret Santa
Set aside time to actually plan what you need to buy and how much you can afford to spend. To keep costs down, speak to your family and friends about setting a cap on how much you spend on each present, or set up a secret Santa schedule where each person attending the Christmas lunch buys one present for a specific person rather than trying to buy lots of little presents for everyone.
Lists and locations
Once that initial planning is out of the way, make a comprehensive list that covers all the basics as well as the obscure but essential little things like wrapping paper and gift tags. Also map out where and when you’re going to shop. Most shopping centres open for extended hours during peak season, so check times on their website or give them a call to find out… that extra hour or two could make all the difference! It’s also worth checking whether the shopping centre caters for everything on your list if you want to avoid multiple trips.
Comfort over style
When it comes to the actual shopping expedition, remember to wear comfy shoes, drink lots of water and take some time out to rest your weary feet and watch the world go by from your favourite coffee shop or restaurant. Take fabric bags along with you too, as they are better for the environment, easier to lug around and hold much more than plastic bags.
A helping hand
If you need a second pair of eyes or are looking for something specific then don’t be shy to ask one of the sales assistants for help – they know their stores backwards and are almost always happy to help. If you’re particularly impressed by their service, or want to give them some suggestions or constructive criticism, then send them your feedback via our website.
