How much thought have you ever put into deciding which web browser to use? I hadn’t given it much thought until I came across a website called
What Browser? and started experimenting to see which one suits me best.
What Browser? gives you some insight into the workings of each particular browser, its top features, tips and tricks and what makes it unique from all the others. The five web browsers that are featured are Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera.
The two web browsers I use are Firefox and Internet Explorer. While browsing What Browser?, I learnt new ways of personalising my browser to suit my individual needs. For example Firefox now allows you to customize the look and feel of your browser by choosing a particular Persona from over 35 000 designs to suit your style and taste.
There is a feature called Add-ons, which enables you to include extra features on your browser to enhance its functionality. I experimented a bit with the Tree Style Tab, so instead of having my tabs appear at the top of the browser, it appears along the side as a tree, one web page after the other and you can personalize this even further, for example colour coding and setting up background images.
Internet Explorer 8 also has some really useful features, one of which is called Web Slices. If you are one of those people who likes to be updated on the latest sport, weather, news etc then Web Slices is definitely for you. If its feature icon is available on a particular website, all you need to do is click, subscribe and you will automatically be informed of all the latest updates and it is easily accessible from your Favourites Bar.
There are so many more exciting features to discover, learn more by visiting www.whatbrowser.org.
