We’re on Twitter! According to Wikipedia, “Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send “updates” (or “tweets”; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter website, via short message service (SMS), instant messaging, or a third-party application such as Twitterrific or Facebook”.

Twitter is essentially a micro blog that displays updates on a user’s profile page that are instantly delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Designed to answer one question, “What are you doing?”, Twitter has evolved into a platform that facilitates the sharing of links and ideas, random thoughts, questions, updates, meeting new people, and staying connected.

By utilising Facebook and Twitter we hope to grow the getclosure! community and afford people the opportunity to share our service with their friends. Discussion topics and service industry related questions will all be posted for comment and will hopefully spark much needed debate about the service industry in South Africa.

The online community is known for using blogs and micro-blogs to voice their dissatisfaction with poor service and product delivery. Is naming and shaming in a public domain the most ethical and effective route to take if your end goal is to have your complaint resolved?
