We have put together a series of interviews with members of the getclosure! team to give you a bit of insight on how the concept was developed and to explain how it all works. We thought it would be fitting to start with one of the founders, Quentin Tannock, who has played an integral role in the formation of getclosure! and the successes achieved thus far.
A little bit about getclosure!
What is your position & what is your role in getclosure!
I am a Founder & non-Executive Director at getclosure! My role includes helping our management team develop getclosure!’s business strategy. I take a particular interest in strategies for risk management and intellectual property protection & development.
What sparked the initial idea to develop the website?
For me, it was not so much a spark as a process… my work has moved from legal dispute resolution, to alternative dispute resolution, to dispute avoidance (including complaints resolution). The value of independent facilitators is well recognised in dispute resolution… why not in dispute avoidance too? Couple this with how useful the Internet is as a communications medium and… getclosure!
What were you involved in prior to getclosure!?
In addition to working in alternative dispute resolution, I have started and managed several successful businesses. I remain involved a few of these businesses in executive and non-executive capacities.
What do you consider to be the getclosure!’s greatest achievement to date?
The incredibly high ’satisfaction rate’ of our users of all kinds. We are doing something right!!
What are the 5 things that you enjoy most about getclosure!?
- That it works… it does get closure!
- Our great team.
- That we help folk avoid disputes… prevention is better than cure!
- The encouraging comments our users make every day.
- The speed with which we are maturing our service, there is exciting momentum.
On a more personal note:
- When I was growing up I wanted to… run my own business.
- My favourite place in the world is… a certain river gorge in Zimbabwe. (It is accessible only by foot after a long drive on dirt roads and is the most pristine wilderness I’ve had the privilege of visiting). I always smile when… my mobile phone rings (I have some very amusing ring tones ;=O)
- If there is an extra hour in my day… I read!
- I am inspired by… the natural world, and my friends in whom I see much bravery and hard work
- My mind works best when… I am working with people I trust and know well
- The highlight of my working life was… seeing my first real business fly!
- My greatest achievement… is something I strive towards daily.
- My motto in life is… never give up.
