This week I’m interviewing Brian, our talented and dedicated IT Manager, to give you a glimpse into the technical side of the website.
A little bit about getclosure!
What is your position at getclosure!?
IT manager.
What were you involved in prior to getclosure!?
I have been involved at a technical and management level in the development of numerous websites and website performance monitoring tools.
What are the core technical considerations when building a web service like getclosure!?
- Reliability. As with all IT services, users are easily disillusioned by unreliable systems. Internet services in particular are quickly abandoned if they don’t deliver as expected so being reliable and fast is essential.
- Scalability. getclosure! is a service that will be used nationally and internationally and over time will be used by hundreds of thousands of users, hopefully millions. The system needs to be designed from the ground up to be capable of delivering as the business grows.
- Ease of use. This is probably the greatest challenge for us techies. If people are going to use the site on an ongoing basis it needs to be friendly and easy to use. Fortunately we have lots of non technical people in the team who help to keep us on the right track.
What do you consider to be the getclosure!’s greatest achievement to date?
As much as I would like to say that our IT developments have been our greatest achievements, I think the credit really goes to the PR and marketing members of the team who seem to be successfully demonstrating to suppliers that getclosure! provides a positive channel for resolving consumer complaints. It is really nice to see suppliers embracing our services.
What are the 5 things that you enjoy most about getclosure!?
1. The continuous evolution of the complaint management system
2. Seeing the company achieving its goals
3. The team
4. The flexible working hours
5. Learning from the marketing guru’s
