From 1 to 5 September 2008, 1 000 law firms representing 18 200 attorneys will be offering South Africans the opportunity to draw up a basic will, free of charge.  According to a recent article in the Cape Times, the main aims of the project are to emphasise the importance of having a valid will in place and to assist people who would not normally make use of the services of an attorney.  The project has been initiated by the Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) and its constituent members, including the Black Lawyers Association and the Cape Law Society.

For contact details of participating attorneys’ firms, or to make an appointment with an attorney participating in the project, contact the Cape Law Society on 021 443 6700.
