Following on from this month’s good news about the drop in petrol prices and interest rates, a number of South African airlines are coming to the party and dropping airfares on domestic routes.
British Airways and Kulula.com, both run by Comair, will reduce their fuel levies, The Mercury reported today.
In addition, Mango Airlines will continue its special offers – with discounts of up to 50% during the festive season. The special runs to 17 December 2008. It is also offering specials on accommodation.
A Mango spokesperson said that the airline was trying to balance the recent volatility of global oil prices, with the weakening of the Rand this year.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has predicted a 5% drop in airline tariffs in 2009.
I wonder when South African Airways (SAA) will step up to the plate with lower prices?
