Well done to Pick n Pay for being named the best retailer in the world! They were given the award by the National Retail Federation for their excellence in service to South African customers.

The award was presented to the CEO of Pick n Pay, Nick Badminton, at the NRF’s Annual Convention and Expo in New York early last week. According to Dispatch Online, the award is highly coveted, and is only given to a retail firm that achieves an international reputation for excellence and distinguished service in their home country. The winner is selected by leaders in the global retail industry, representing a wide range of stores – including internet, discount, speciality, chemist and food chain stores.

Nick Badminton told iafrica.com that “The NRF wrote to us last year saying we had been selected. It came out of the blue, but it is nice to be recognised internationally.” He acknowledges that the award is due to the incredible support of the Pick n Pay board, management team and thousands of exceptional employees. It is Pick n Pay’s mission to satsify their customers’ needs by selling quality products at competitive prices, and providing the best service in pleasing stores.

Pick n Pay, a subscriber on getclosure!, has some rather impressive ratings regarding the number of complaints that they have attended to over the past year. In 2008 Pick n Pay acknowledged and replied to around 85% of their complaints.
