Imagine that you are a customer who has been unfairly treated by a supplier you have been dealing with. You feel victimised and wonder whether it was your right to have been treated in the best possible manner, pertinent to your specific situation. How do you know what your rights are, and whether you are in fact being unfairly treated?
The Consumer Protection Bill of 2007 is set to protect consumers from unscrupulous service, and provide them with the information they need to take action.
The Department of Trade and Industry is hosting a consumer awareness campaign, using role play to communicate the content of the Bill to consumers. Examples of typical unfair business practice scenarios will be acted out, and solutions for consumer will be presented, so that they can learn what to do if a similar situation were to arise in real life.
We think this could be an effective way to help consumers learn the contents of the Consumer Protection Bill, and hopefully will not stand for being manipulated by suppliers in the future.
