Lately when I’ve been shopping, I’ve noticed it’s getting easier and easier to buy bio-degradable, green products. Often these are animal friendly as well, and that got me thinking that it’s probably worth revisiting which companies put their money where their mouth is when it comes to animal testing.
For a reminder on the arguments around animal testing and vivisection, you can visit the South African site of Beauty Without Cruelty. They give a great run down of the various arguments from a moral, scientific and rational point of view, and also offer up a few alternatives. Although not sensationalist, the site is not for the squeamish.
You can also view a useful list of products that are animal friendly by clicking here.
Looking further afield, a site called Leaping Bunny offers a cruelty-free shopping guide that covers cosmetics, household products, personal care products and even animal-care products. Download the pocket guide for easy reference the next time you go shopping.
Rocking the Daisies, South Africa’s first carbon-neutral music festival, achieved carbon-neutral status for the first time and this year will do the same thanks to the use of environmentally friendly practices and products. The festival’s motto is: play hard, tread lightly.
