In a month’s time, South Africans will team up to celebrate Do It Day, a GreaterGood SA campaign dedicated to helping others through volunteer initiatives. The day aims to bring people together to use their skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of our country.
There are a number of projects dedicated to Do It Day, which will take place on Friday 18 September. You can choose to plant trees at underprivileged schools, build houses for charity or take part in various clean-ups around the country. South Africans have the opportunity to sign up for these projects on the Do It Day website. The organisation also welcomes donations of any kind.
GreaterGood SA is a non-profit organisation which continually seeks out ways of bringing people together in order to help reduce poverty in South Africa. The organisation was launched in 2004, and according to its website, has since then has raised R22 million for good causes and has over 1,600 volunteer organisations registered on its website. They also engage in various corporate social investment initiatives with companies from all over the country.
Visit the Do It Day website for more information on how you can get involved in a project in your area. Let us know what you decide to do and please include all the details so that other readers can come and get stuck in too.
