Hi JC, according to Chapter 2, Part H, Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, consumers can return goods within 6 months of when they were delivered, without penalty and at the suppliers risk and expense. The consumer can decide whether they want a full refund or for the goods to be repaired or replaced.

Hi there,

I've looked at your posts on the consumer protection act, but I haven't seen anything referring to the right of the customer to return faulty goods.

I'm currently in Germany and am very impressed by the fact that you are legally allowed to return anything defected for a full refund within 2 years (if you kept the receipt).

Does South African law and the consumer act in general have anything similar?

Thanks
