Apple unveiled its new line of more advanced iPods at its annual September press conference in San Francisco, with an array of new designs.

With over 275 million already sold, Apple has decided to create a new generation of the portable music device in time for this year’s festive season.

.
According to Apple co–founder Steve Jobs, the new line of iPods is the strongest line up of iPods they have ever had.

.
The iPod Shuffle now includes playlists and buttons to adjust the volume. The new model is also smaller than its predecessor and is able to play 15 hours of music. The Shuffle now comes in a range of five different colours.

.
The iPod Touch also boasts an array of new features. It is thinner than the previous models and has a built-in front camera. The iPod Nano will now have a touch screen to replace the click wheel which consumers often found difficult to work. The Nano will also be the only iPod to keep its FM capabilities.

.
To support the improvements of the iPod, Apple has also upgraded the software. As in the past, iTunes 10 is a free downloadable application, but now has concert information available on it as well as Ping, a music-friendly social networking platform which allows you to follow your favourite artists and friends and see what music they are downloading.

.
With all these upgrades, Apple hopes to have an iPod at the top of everyone’s Christmas list.
