Tonight on the show, the Carte Blanche Consumer team takes a look at just how much you are paying for the parts needed to repair your car and also the dangers of teenagers riding quad bikes on public roads.
Quad bikes
At age thirteen, CJ Richards lost his lower jaw in a quad-biking accident. And Ben Zeelie’s son was killed while riding his quad on the side of the road. Despite the risks, quad bikes are all the rage among youngsters and many parents easily concede. You can even get one “free” with some cellphone contracts. They’re not roadworthy and you don’t need a licence. All these factors can result in tragedy because children don’t have road sense, aren’t appropriately trained and don’t always wear protective gear. But who’s to blame when there’s an accident – greedy dealerships, uninformed parents or traffic authorities? Carte Blanche Consumer investigates.

Car parts
More cars are written off than ever before, mainly because the high cost of replacement parts makes many uneconomical to repair. So, if your car is no longer under warranty, you may be shocked to find out just how much original manufacturer parts actually cost in comparison to generic alternatives. Carte Blanche Consumer finds out who rakes in the cash and how it impacts directly on you, the consumer.
