Dear getclosure fan
The World Cup kicked off last week with a spectacular opening ceremony and a pulsating 1-all draw between Bafana Bafana and Mexico. Since then, the hype and excitement of the tournament has snowballed to every corner of the continent and beyond. With visitors from overseas still streaming in, and South Africans planning trips to various host cities to get in on the action, we’ve put together some useful tips on getting around, in terms of price and quality of customer service.
According to a snap survey conducted by Fin24.com, domestic and regional flight prices have risen significantly during the World Cup. The survey indicates that the prices of some flights from Johannesburg to Durban and Cape Town in late June and early July have more than doubled.
However there are still some affordable flights up for grabs if you shop around a bit. According to Rian Bornman, Managing Director of travel comparison website FlightSite, “The anticipation of high demand during the World Cup pushed prices up as hotels, flights and car hire inventory was contracted in advance. When unsold inventory was released by the likes of FIFA’s booking agency, Match a more accurate picture came to light and the lack of bookings pushed prices down.
More recently, 1Time, Mango and Kulula have had sales with flights on the JNB/ CPT route starting from R299 one way. Flight prices, with possibly the exception of match days, are relative to any other time of the year.”
If the airlines have competitive prices and you’re not sure which one to fly with then you may be interested to know that Kulula is the top rated airline in the getclosure customer centricity ratings, with more than two thirds of customers satisfied or better with the way their complaints were handled and with the outcome of their complaints on getclosure.
